Anonymous Get Hacked
It appears that Anonymous have trouble in their ranks – not that they had ranks to begin with, in fact that’s the problem. The following has been posted on a hacking site:
‘We regret to inform you today that our network has been compromised by a former IRC-operator and fellow helper named “Ryan”. He decided that he didn’t like the leaderless command structure that AnonOps Network Admins use. So he organised a coup d’etat, with his “friends” at skidsr.us . Using the networks service bot “Zalgo” he scavenged the IP’s and passwords of all the network servers (including the hub) and then systematically aimed denial of service attacks at them.’
Sony was targeted by a DOS attack and now Anonymous’ own members have used the same tools to bring down their IRC network.
‘We are profoundly sorry for this drama, and we can’t give you a an estimate on when service will resume normally,’ said
SonyAnonymous. The Law Of Karma:`For every event that occurs, there will follow another event whose existence was caused by the first, and this second event will be pleasant or unpleasant according as its cause was skillful or unskillful.’ A skillful event is one that is not accompanied by craving, resistance or delusions; an unskillful event is one that is accompanied by any one of those things.’

The Word of Notch: The plan for mods
After some internal discussion and general anxiety, we’ve arrived at a
plan for supporting mods. It’s still a bit vague and the details might
change after we’ve run it by our lawyers, but here’s what we want to
do:
* Let players sign up as “mod developers”.This will cost money(edit: no longer…
I think the idea of making people pay in order to mod is shady. Like 50% of people will say it’s good cause there will be no frauds, but the other 50% will say something like “Why should I pay to helpp out your game with content” or “I should be payed for my hard work, not the other way around” or even “I already payed for the game, why should I pay to mod it.”
Regardless, I think the API should be complex. Notch, your game is a satisfying as it is, and modding will only better it (Which it does already), but you don’t need an API that is too good. I can guarantee, even if you spend 5 years on it like Valve does with their games, there will still be people who are just unhappy with your work.
Make an API you would be happy to use if you were a young modder with lots of ideas for Minecraft. It’s your project, and as long as your happy with your work, support will follow.
Really I would just like to drop a file into a folder and be done. And if the game updates, let it ignore the file if it causes errors. Thus there wouldn’t be any more black screens and game restarts. It’s kind of like plug in development with Bukkit (Which should actually look into, cause most server run on Bukkit now, which is why people buy the game).
Anyways, I’m just a guy, I’m not here to tell you what to do. Just saying.
davidr64's blog: What's Wrong with Minecraft (and How to Fix it)
UPDATE: IMPORTANT: Notch has responded to this post. I wanted him to read this blog entry, but it’s clear that he doesn’t want to, AND THAT’S PERFECTLY FINE. I don’t want a whole legion of people attacking him about his decision, and I don’t want anybody else trying to get him to read it.
I…
MY RESPONSE:
X your not the only one who came up with ideas. But they’re just ideas.
Minecraft is a game that can be infinitely expanded, as it is completely dependent on the players. Modding is not much different from implementing by the developers. Many people have made many game changing mods.
Think about Half-Life. It was made moder friendly. Thats where Counter Strike, Garry’s Mod and other great titles came from. It is moding that pushed the game forward, and expanded it into other titles.
Notch just has to implement a much easier way to mod minecraft, like he did with texture packs, and let the people decide what they like to add to the game. All in all, he has his ideas for the game. It’s his game. He will do what he wants, and will not listen to you, me, or anyone else, since he believes in the fact that it is his game. He’s not greedy, he just doesn’t want other people telling him what to do with his idea. It’s like asking Donatello or Michelangelo to adjust their painting at the time. Maybe if they did, their work would be horrible. Maybe Mona Lisa if altered by requests when Da Vinci was working on it, would never see the fame it has.
Notch will do whatever he wants with the game, and if you find it boring, well, it is in the nature of humans to get tired of something we cherish at first. Everything has it’s limits, and everything will fade away.
In a couple of years we’ll move on to something else, and minecraft will have few followers left. I know this. Don’t ask me how. Just look back into our history as people.

The Word of Notch: Our office is cold during the winter
Seriously. The radiators are tiny, and the rooms are huge. I think the landlord turns down the heat during the weekends as well.. I stopped by yesterday to get some bonus work done in between the two trips (I was in Mexico one week ago, and we’re going to GDC in one week followed by a short stop…
The Word of Notch: The web server is struggling, we're migrating
Once again, minecraft.net is more popular than the poor old server can keep up with, so we’re upgrading. I’m not quite sure how long it will take to get done as it’s mostly Tobias doing the work (thank you, sir!). We’ve got a huge amazon cloud server which we’re moving the main server to. We’ll be…
